As our in-house periodontist, Dr. Tibbs goes the extra mile to help patients keep or replace their teeth in confident, long-lasting ways. The satisfaction that she gets from this process, as well as the beautiful smiles she sees on their faces, makes it all worthwhile! If you’d like to learn more about her, just keep reading below.
Dr. Tibbs has always known that she has a calling to care for others. When she was an enlisted nurse in Afghanistan, she treated local national patients with severe dental infections, and this caused her to think a lot about the biological complexity and functional importance of teeth. Once she left the United States Army, she spent some time shadowing a dentist and realized that it was the perfect profession for her!
Dr. Tibbs attended the University of Maryland at Baltimore for her dental doctorate. After completing her Certificate in Periodontics, she also pursued a fellowship that specifically focused on implant prosthodontics and digital dentistry. During this time, she taught periodontics to dental students. Once she transitioned to private practice, she immediately joined several local continuing education and study groups in order to keep her clinical skills sharp. Today, she is a member of the following organizations:
When she isn’t busy caring for teeth, Dr. Tibbs spends plenty of quality time with her partner, her parents, and her two siblings. As for personal hobbies, spending time outdoors is one of her biggest passions! You can often find her fishing, kayaking, camping, and simply learning all she can about nature/wildlife conservation. She also likes to cook and go wine tasting.
